The Instruments

The McSpadden 4 string is made of cherry with a redwood top.  This dulcimer is very special since it is Denise’s first dulcimer.  She bought it when she started taking lessons from David Schnaufer in October 2000.  Denise says she “ plays it all the time, it just gets better sounding with age.  I continue to get compliments on the sounds and tone from this dulcimer whenever and wherever I play it.”

The McSpadden 6 String Schnaufer protype was purchased from David Schnaufer and is believed to be protype #4.  Since it is a prototype, it is a unique instrument, but the louder more vibrant tone also makes this instrument very special.  Please see www.mcspaddendulcimers.com for information regarding the Schnaufer model dulcimers.

This was one of the last instruments made and sold at Opryland theme park in Nashville before it closed.  It is crafted by Donovan Carpenter.  It has a rich mellow tone and turned out to be great for recording.
